
The event concluded at St Clair Beach yesterday, wrapping up four days of elite surfing in Dunedin.
Dunedin’s Luke Murphy claimed the men’s over-40 title with a score of 10.63 in the final.
He was followed in by fellow Dunedin surfer Lyndon Fairbairn, who came third with 7.56.
Murphy also claimed second in the over-30 grade, his score of 8.90 being edged by Buck Woods.
Alexis Owen and Tessa Gabbott both showed the future is bright for Dunedin on the waves too.
They won the under-14 boys and girls titles respectively, with score of 13.33 and 7.70.
Owen put on a similarly strong display in the under-16 grade, although his score of 10.94 was beaten by a stunning 17.20 from Tao Mouldey.
In the open men’s category Finn Vette won a tie-breaker to edge national champion Daniel Farr.
Vette finished with a score of 13.36, beating out Farr’s 12.20, to take the title.
Estella Hungerford had a handy win in the open women’s grade, her score of 9.87 well ahead of second-placed Anna Brock’s 7.87.
Kalani Louis won the under-18 boys, scoring 12.90 to beat Jai Wallis’ 8.77.
Natasha Gouldsbury won the girls section with a score of 10.0, over Sophia Brock.
Amelie Wink claimed a tight win over Hungerford in the women’s longboard, while Zen Wallis dominated the men’s section.
