New Zealand men's hockey goalkeeper Paul Woolford has retired after a long career at the top.
After two Olympics, most recently at Beijing, two World Cups, two Commonwealth Games and one Champions Trophy in 2004, Woolford said he was not in contention for the next Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010.
It "would be a bridge too far for an old dog", Woolford told the New Zealand Herald.
Woolford, with 140 international caps, steps down after helping Auckland finish runner up to Midlands in the national hockey league, which ended on Sunday.
"I will continue playing club hockey while my mates are still around but that's it for Auckland and New Zealand," Woolford, 31, said.
He made his international debut in 1999 against Britain.
