Team Seagate continues to blitz the field in the Godzone adventure race and is expected to arrive at the finish line in Queenstown late tonight.

Seagate came out of its second overnight trek, after mountain biking 129km over the Thomson Mountains near Glenorchy, in the lead position yesterday afternoon on day three of the extreme adventure race.

Today's leg of the race will require the all-New Zealand team of Nathan Fa'avae, Sophie Hart, Chris Forne and Trevor Voyce to trek 24km over the Earnslaw Burn and bike 21km over the Rees Valley and finally kayak 46km down Lake Wakatipu.

Team One Square Meal and Blackheart Adventure both trail in second and third spots respectively. After Seagate's one-hour gain on Monday's overnight trek of the Dunton and Livingston's Mountains, it would take a serious setback for the leader to drop behind.

R & R Sport was fourth, Swordfox fifth and Subway sixth.

Queenstown team Tiki Tour was ninth after only two hours sleep on Tuesday night.

The team is Tom Lucas, Mike Kelly, Michael Walker and Joanna Williams.

The Godzone adventure race is the first unsupported expedition-style, adventure race to be held in New Zealand since the the Raid Gauloises, 22 years ago.

It is part of the Adventure Racing World Championships, an international annual circuit of premiere adventure races in 10 countries forming the Adventure Racing World Series.
