Alpine ski racer Adam Hall won his second straight national title at the 2009 Adaptive Snowsports Festival at Cardrona, yesterday.

Hall (21), of Wanaka and formerly Outram, won the giant slalom with a combined adjusted time of 46.40sec.

He was more than six seconds ahead of his New Zealand adaptive skiing team-mate Peter Williams, of Auckland, who recorded 52.81sec.

The 21-year-old was named New Zealand's top snowsports athlete recently and has won the national adaptive championship title for the past three years in a row.

Hall races in slalom tomorrow, his strongest discipline, where is ranked second in the world.

In the snowboarding giant slalom race, former New Plymouth man Carl Murphy retained his national title by a margin of less than a second from international rider Ian Lockey.

Murphy's time of 57.13sec just shaded Lockey's 57.32sec.

Alisha McLennan won the female giant slalom ski race, while Bibian Mentel was the fastest female snowboarder.

Wanaka man Quentin Smith won the junior ski category in a borrowed sit-ski, in his first competitive event.
