Jeremy Hopkins (Neptune) will need a bigger bag to hold all his gold medals at the end of this week.
Last year, he won seven titles at the New Zealand age-group championships. He has already won five gold medals at this year's event in Wellington and there are still two finals sessions to go.
On the third night of the championships, Hopkins was in dominant form in the boys aged 14 grade and won three gold medals to add to his collection.
He swam personal-best times when winning the 50m butterfly in 27.80sec and the 100m freestyle in 55.34sec. The 100m freestyle was worth 609 Fina points.
Hopkins also won the 400m individual medley in 4min 54.42sec. It was worth 568 Fina points.
Hopkins, a member of coach Gennadiy Labara's Osca squad, now goes to school in Perth and it is not clear how much longer he will swim for the Neptune club. His parents have shifted from Dunedin to Thailand for business reasons.
Talented Oamaru swimmer Isobel Ryan continued to make an impact on the national scene when she won a silver medal in the girls aged 16 200m freestyle in a personal-best time of 2min 7.91sec.
Caitlin Deans (Waves) won her second silver medal at the championships in the girls aged 12 and 13 200m freestyle in 2min 12.79sec.
Otago swimmers won 10 medals on the third night of finals in Wellington. Bronze medals were won by Andrew Trembath (Neptune), boys aged 16 400m individual medley (4min 37.88sec); Courtland Ellis (Taieri), boys aged 13 400m individual medley (5min 09.33sec); Aleisha Ruske, girls aged 15 200m freestyle (2min 9.79sec); Sophie Fairbairn (Wanaka), girls aged 12-13 200m breaststroke (2min 52.89sec); Neptune boys aged 15 and under medley relay (Ronald Poon, Han Zhang, Jeremy Hopkins, Bailey Brandham) 1min 56.17sec.
