Juliane Bray (34), Snowboarder
Lives: Wanaka (born Wellington)Event: Snowboard halfpipe.
Background: Bray has been competing for New Zealand in snowboarding since 1995 and is a snowboarding representative on the FIS International Athlete Commission.
She competed at the 2006 Olympics, finishing 16th in halfpipe and 22nd in boarder cross.
She was the New Zealand Open halfpipe champion in 2008 and finished fifth at the Canada World Cup last year.
Bray also finished ninth in last year's Winter Games World Cup halfpipe final.
Chances: The women's halfpipe is dominated by American athletes, with Chinese and Canadian athletes also to be reckoned with.
Bray's maturity and depth of experience in variable snow and weather conditions gives her an advantage over other competitors.
She has finished inside the top 10 at nine World Cup finals since the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Bray is a finals prospect at the Olympics and will be pushing for a medal.
