Olympic sailboard champion Tom Ashley won gold in the men's RS:X on the final day of the Sail Auckland Olympic class regatta today.

Ashley, the 2008 RS:X champion, finished second in today's medal race behind Dorian van Rijsselberge who secured the silver medal in winning the final double-points race.

Jon-Paul Tobin was awarded third, on countback from Antonio Cozzolino after they finished on equal points.

Kate Ellingham from the NZL sailing team, won the women's title, with her closest rival Natalia Kosinska retiring on day three with an injury. Ellingham won the medal race today and took out the event with a 12 point winning margin from Justina Sellers who won silver, while Jazmine Lynch was third.

Andrew Murdoch won the Laser, after getting the better of Mike Bullot in the final race of a neck-and- neck series. Josh Junior won today's race, but Murdoch's seventh placing over Bullot's ninth was enough to clinch him in the crown.

Tom Burton, one of four Australians in the Laser medal race, won the bronze.

Olympic campaigner Sara Winther took victory in the Radial class over the largest field in the regatta, with Michael Cate second and Nicholas Croft third.

"Happy enough -- to beat all the boys," Winther said after finishing second in today's race.

She will now enjoy a short break before resuming training towards the European regattas, the first of which for her will be the Princess Sofia Regatta in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. She leaves New Zealand in mid March.

Nick Rogers, double Olympic medallist for Great Britain, and Chris Grube were too good on the 470 course, taking out today's medal race and the regatta by a massive 17 point margin. The Britons won seven out of eleven races and were top two in all but one race.

The New Zealand crew of Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie finished second overall, ahead of Paul Snow-Hansen and Jason Saunders.

Dan Slater took out the Finn class, applying local knowledge to beat Rafael Trujillo of Spain. Slater was solid throughout the four days, winning seven out of 10 races in the class where seven boats were competing.

Marcus Hansen and Aaron Hume-Merry were clear winners in the 49er skiff. They won 15 races from their 16 counting starts.
