Bettors Creek will be in demand in race 8 at Alexandra Park tonight on the strength of his third in the Harness Jewels last Saturday.
Bettors Creek was credited with a mile time of 1.53.2 when he finished third to Smolda and Lets Elope in the Jewels at Cambridge.
The 3yr-old had won his previous start at Alexandra Park.
Bettors Creek is trained by Cran Dalgety, who has Donegal Delight and Bettor's Fire in contention for race 9.
Donegal Delight, the backmarker on 30m, ran third to Pembrook's Delight and Bettor Cover Lover in the Jewels.
Bettor's Fire was sixth to Smolda.
Donegal Delight won the North Island Breeders' Stakes from a 30m handicap at her previous start.
Bettors Creek and Donegal Delight will be driven by Brent Mangos in the absence of Dexter Dunn.
Dunn decided early in the week not to attend the Auckland meeting early as he was also scheduled to drive at Forbury Park last night, the Nelson meeting today and the second Nelson meeting on Sunday.
The Nelson meeting scheduled for today has since been postponed until Sunday due to snow on the roads. The second day of the meeting has been transferred to Tuesday.
Stent, a late-finishing second to Cyclone U Bolt in the Jewels, is the one to beat in race 10 tonight.
Stent had won easily at Alexandra Park on May 25.
Seabreeze Star (race one), who finished third to Miss Lisa and Christian Party in the Sires' Stakes Consolation for 3yr-old fillies at Addington at her last start, is now trained by James Stormont at Pukekohe.
• Trainer Luke McCarthy has been granted a stay of proceedings by the New South Wales Racing Appeals Tribunal which will allow him to continue training until his appeal is heard, AAP reports.
He has appealed a disqualification of nine months by Harness Racing NSW following a positive drug test by one of his horses.
No date has yet been set for the hearing.
McCarthy was disqualified after Mach Wiper tested positive to boldenone, an anabolic steroid, after winning the Newcastle Cup in December.
