Matt Maguire stands out in the main race at the Forbury Park Trotting Club meeting tonight.

The Christian Cullen 5yr-old has finished second in his two starts since he resumed racing after an 11-month break.

Matt Maguire was beaten half a length by Ohoka Texas over a mile at Winton in 1.56.2 when he returned to the track three weeks ago.

He followed that effort with a similar placing behind the talented Jivin Cullen at Kaikoura 11 days ago.

The winner of eight of his 31 starts, he looks well placed against moderate opposition tonight.

From two off the mobile gate tonight he is in a position to dictate terms and give a home-town win to his East Taieri co-owners, Phil and Margaret Creighton.

Wot The Owl has won 12 races, eight since he came south in May, including six at Forbury Park.

He has been successful in six of his last eight starts. Ricky May, who drove him to win at Gore 12 days ago, retains the drive.

Rockin Roll Lad, the Cran Dalgety-trained stablemate of Matt Maguire, warrants respect on his record at Forbury Park.

The nine-race winner has recorded five of those wins on the Forbury Park track, albeit over distances shorter than the 2700m he faces tonight.

Jack Trainor, the junior driver with the Dalgety stable, has his first drive behind the 4yr-old tonight.
