Racing: Winsome Bucks appeals at Forbury Park today

Winsome Bucks looks an outstanding prospect for the group two $12,000 A F Johnston Electrical Far South Challenge Final at the Otago Greyhound Racing Club meeting at Forbury Park today.

Winsome Bucks has won 32 races, including the 2010 group one Shoot Out and the 2009 New Zealand Cup.

He has also recorded 22 placings from his 63 starts.

He has recorded three wins and a placing from four starts at Forbury Park.

Dave and Jean Fahey, who train Winsome Bucks at Amberley, have four other greyhounds in the feature race of the Otago season - Vivaldi Star, Delusionist, Rockabye Lad and Opawa Secret.

Two heats were run at Forbury Park on January 28 and the final field for the 545m event is of an exceptionally high calibre with most of the top middle distance runners in New Zealand lining up.

Rockabye Lad won his heat by six lengths in 33.43.

Vivaldi Star beat Winsome Bucks by two and three-quarter lengths in the other heat run in 33.29.

Vivaldi Star is unbeaten is two starts at Forbury Park.

Rockabye Lad, winner of the 2009 Top Gun, has won 25 races, including the 2008 New Zealand Cup, and the $30,000 group one Spion Rose in 2008 and 2009.

He has won two of his three starts at Forbury Park.

Vivaldi Star has the grand record of 15 wins and 15 placings from 41 starts.

Tricky Shelly has won 19 of her 30 starts including the group one 2009 Waterloo Cup, the Waikato Cup and North Island Challenge, both group two races and the 2009 Ladies Bracelet.

She has won twice from four races at Forbury Park.

• Aussieaussieaussie, a winner over 1600m at Riccarton yesterday, will back up in the group three $70,000 White Robe Lodge Stakes (1600m) at Wingatui on Saturday.

Co-trainer Kevin Hughes said Aussieaussieaussie would be improved by his race yesterday, the first since his fourth in the Kumara Nuggets on January 8.

Aussieaussieaussie carried 57kg yesterday and drops to 52.5kg on Saturday.

Terry Moseley, who rode the 5yr-old yesterday, retains the mount at Wingatui.

Riccarton apprentice David Mo was uninjured when his mount Dougal The Grey fractured his left foreleg and fell 100m from the finish of race 7 at Riccarton yesterday.

The 4yr-old, who was having his first start, was put down.
