Brothers Richard and Stephen Hill have donated a trophy for the two Citizens Shield teams to contest.
Richard is an avid Blues man while Stephen supports Athies.
The pair wanted to introduce a trophy to the match as the previous one was lost about a decade ago.
Their thinking was to bring the two clubs closer together.
‘‘We’ve always had a bit of banter,” Stephen said.
‘‘It’s always been a battle of the field, but off the field it’s normal proceedings,” Richard said.
Fitting with the name of the match, the brothers intended to present the trophy to the winning captain in the carpark.
Blues got the better of Athies earlier this season, winning 26-17 back in April.
Both teams will be well rested as the competition took a break for King’s Birthday weekend.
Maheno hosts Kurow and Old Boys take on Valley in the other two matches this weekend.
