Five Tini Feke tries powered Old Boys to a big win over Athletic Marist on Pasifika Day.

The third annual event between the two clubs ended with Old Boys claiming the Pasifika Kings of Rugby Bowl for the first time with a 31-24 win.

Feke’s haul accounted for 25 of Old Boys’ 31 points, outscoring Athies all by himself.

He scored the opening points inside the first two minutes of the match off a quick tap inside his opponents’ 22m.

Athies were able to hit back against the run of play.

Old Boys made a line break but lost the ball at the breakdown to Posiano Kamoto, who dashed away down field and linked with Sione Osamu for the finish.

A yellow card to Old Boys winger Ilai Atuekaho did not seem to bother them as Feke crossed the white line again to put them in front with just 14 men.

However, did not take long for Athies to strike back.

Fullback Alfie Coop gathered a high kick and was able to gas his defender on the outside before firing the pass back inside to captain Savenaca Rabaka, who in turn gave it to Julius Gibson to score.

Blake James added the tough conversion to put them in front.

It was then Athies’ turn to lose a player as Yann Bayle was yellow-carded for a professional foul as Old Boys tried to take a penalty quickly.

Old Boys made them pay as Feke completed a first-half hat-trick when he crashed over from close range.

Athies were then able to tie the game up just before halftime.

A cross kick out to the right went straight through the winger’s hands but it was lost backwards, so Epineri Logavatu was able to grab it and take off down-field.

He was stopped short but a pick and go from Charles Mason would not be denied.

Feke had his fourth try just after halftime off the back of a solid scrum 5m out in the right-hand corner.

Old Boys spun it out left to him, but he spied a gap and darted back down the blindside to score in the corner.

Their lead was short-lived, however, as Athies hit back immediately.

Rabaka won the ball from the kick-off and passed to Norman Dennison, who stabbed a grubber in behind.

Old Boys were lackadaisical in gathering the ball and Gibson slipped through to stab it ahead again, and beat everyone to dot down.

Feke completed his five-try haul in the final 10 minutes to give Old Boys a lead they would not give up.

Athies had plenty of opportunities to come back late but the Old Boys defence stood strong.

It was the only game played on Saturday as the other two were played on Thursday night due to duck-shooting season opening.

Maheno knocked off Excelsior in a high-scoring thriller.

It was tight the whole way, but the green machine ended up getting home 42-40.

Both sides scored six tries, but an extra Ben McCarthy conversion proved the difference for Maheno.

Valley remain undefeated in 2026 after their 28-21 win over Kurow.

They ran in four tries, while Isaac Clunie nailed two penalties.
