Destroyed Arvi from the Mornington and Cableways with a comprehensive draw and, as you know, I win all draws.
I’ve decided this week to give Sharks halfback Tim Hogan a run and you’ll be asking why. Well, he played his 100th game for the Sharks on Saturday and he’s endured numerous barbs from me over his tenure so he deserves a shot at the title. Seriously mate, achieving 100 games for your club is a wonderful achievement so heartiest congratulations even if you lose this tipping comp.
The Sharks make the odyssey up to Bastion Point to take on Zingers and on paper this only goes one way — the home side should be too strong for an understrength Sharks . The Sharks (12-) were woefully undermanned last week and somehow got it done so we’ll go with a second miracle.
Kaik are at home on the beloved High Veldt and the Hawks come calling. I’ve got a suspicion the Harbour (12-) pack just might get them home. Varsity (12-) host GI at the Oval and should be too strong up front but the Spannerheads should get players back and will keep it close.
The Eels are at home at the Eelpit and hard to beat out there and they take on the Magpies. Again this will be close but the home-ground advantage may get Taieri (12-) over the line. There will be nothing in it.
In the country unbelievably I got beaten by Hayden from Cromtrans — I just can’t fathom that. On to Roger (Skinny) Miller from my favourite club Clinton, so surely I bounce back. Skinny has played over 300 games for the Draft Horses and is one of the chief bottlewasters for their big upcoming event.
The West Taieri (13+) Pigs will be too strong for the Crescent Colliers at the Market Garden.
My Clinton (12-) boys scored their first points last week and will get their first win this weekend at the expense of the prison guards from Toko.
Lawrence (12-) may get back on track at Gabriels Gully over Owaka.
Clutha (13+) host cousins Clutha Valley and this only goes one way. The city slickers are too big, too strong.
