But when I heard a whistle and the crowd was roaring I looked back. It was one of the best times of my life.
It all started when the Highlanders let away a soft try. The Blues dotted in the corner but Anscombe missed the kick. After 5 minutes the Blues led 5-0. About ten minutes later Sean Treeby dived in the opposite corner and Delaney nailed the kick.
A few minutes later there was a penalty to the Highlanders that extended the lead 10-5. I thought for all money that the Highlanders had the game now.
BUT . . . it didn't turn out like that. It was 16-14 until suddenly the Blues got a penalty in a kickable position. Luckily for us Anscombe missed the kick and the Highlanders walked into the shed at halftime leading 16-14.
We didn't play as well in the second half but we won the second half by 1. We won the game 30-27. The territory and possession was different. The Blues looked to have more possession.
Mike Delaney had the best game I have seen him play but needs to pass it a bit more often. Ben Smith was good before he had to go off with concussion and Hosea Gear made some REALLY good breaks and set up the Sean Treeby try. He also put in a good grubber for Kurt Baker to fall on the ball and score.
For Auckland Nonu looked dangerous and I was a bit worried looking at him for the first 20 minutes. He made some really good breaks that was surprising that the Blues didn't score from.
