Rugby: Feast of secondary rugby in store

The University Oval will host seven secondary school finals on Saturday, and a key game in the Highlanders First XV competition.

The Otago Rugby Football Union has decided to play as many secondary school finals as possible at the one ground.

There will be seven finals from under-14 grade to under-18, with games starting at 10am.

Teams will come from all across the province.

Of all the grades, only the under-15 division 2 final will not be played at the University Oval.

That match is to be played in Alexandra.

Full programmes will be available for all games.

The last match of the day will kick off at 2.45pm and is the key game of the Highlanders First XV competition.

Otago Boys will take on Southland Boys in the final game of the top four, and there will be much at stake.

Southland Boys leads the competition on nine points. Otago Boys and Waitaki Boys are level on five points.

Waitaki Boys will play South Otago in Balclutha.

If teams are tied after Saturday's matches, those to go through the final will be based on their ranking in the round-robin.

South Otago was the top team in the round robin, followed by Otago Boys, Southland Boys and Waitaki Boys.
