Phillips was named the Otago rugby woman of the year at the annual dinner at the Southern club at Bathgate Park last night.
She started the journey in 1978 by supporting her two sons through primary and secondary school rugby in Kaitangata and has been president of the Crescent club for the last five years.
Women fill the key positions in the Crescent club, with Phillips backed by secretary Michelle Sanders.
Phillips' administration work started when she was co-opted to the committee for the Crescent club's 125th anniversary celebrations in 2002.
She was on the committee that planned the the dinner when Crescent hosted the Otago rugby women's dinner in 2004.
Phillips has been involved in all the club's major fundraising ventures over the last decade, including a "Stars in Your Eyes" competition.
She started the Crescent women's team and managed and supported it each week. She also cooks meals for the premier and senior players after Thursday night training and cooks a "mean burger" for the aftermatch function on Saturdays.
The guest speaker last night was Otago manager Des Smith.
• Weather permitting, the Taieri primary schoolboy seven-a-side tournament will be played at Peter Johnstone Park tomorrow, after heavy rain put paid to the event last month.
The annual tournament usually is played on Queen's Birthday but poor weather led to the tournament being postponed on June 7.
Fields were under water and rain pelted down as coastal Otago was hit by a rain deluge.
It was just the second time the event had been postponed in its 49 years.
But with school holidays meaning no rugby for primary school children for the past couple of weeks, it was felt tomorrow would be the ideal day to play the tournament.
Playing it after the club season has finished would clash with representative teams.
Taieri Rugby Football Club primary rugby chairman Brent Varcoe said only about five teams had withdrawn from the original entries, and about 85 teams would line up in grades from under-7 to under-13.
Games would start about 10am with finals about 2.30pm.
The weather forecast was for early drizzle followed by fine weather.
