Gore High School remained at the top of the Highlanders First XV rugby competition by gaining its third bonus point win at Oamaru today.
Gore scored six tries to beat St Kevin's College 36-0 with a sound all-round game in which backs and forwards combined.
Gore leads the competition on 15 points and is followed by King's and Otago Boys 14, Southland Boys' and Waitaki Boys' 10, Menzies College 9, Dunstan and John McGlashan 7, South Otago 3, Kavanagh College 2, St Kevin's and Verdon College 0.
Players to impress for Gore today were lock Robert Smith, No 8 Morgan Mitchell and midfield back Aaron Shirley.
Gore led 17-0 at the break and a runaway win looked on.
But St Kevin's displayed steel in the second half with No 8 Ashley Miller having a solid defensive game. Prop Johnny Rushbatch and Tim O'Malley also had strong defensive games.
King's retained its unbeaten record with a 29-12 win over Waitaki Boys' and Otago Boys' went on the rampage to beat newcomer Menzies College 65-5.
