Centre Keanau Kahurkua scored the only try and played a key role Southland Boys' 11-0 semi-final win over Gore at Invercargill today.

Southland Boys' will play Otago Boys' in the final of the Highlanders First XV competition at Dunedin next week.

Otago Boys' beat Kings 26-5 in a one-sided game at Dunedin.

Southland Boys' led 3-0 at halftime when Jackson Wallace kicked a penalty goal.

Burns made some telling breaks with the ball in hand and his try finally broke a courageous Gore defence.

Fullback Henry Burns kicked a penalty to add the extra points in the second spell. His positional play was a feature and he defended stoutly on the wet ground.

Southland Boys' dominated territory and possession with tighthead prop Patrick Clegg having strong game in the scrum.

Flanker Nick Hayes had another dominant game and controlled the breakdown.

Southland Boys' could have won by more points if it had not made silly mistakes. Its tactical kicking was also poor.

Centre Michael Collins was the dominant player in the Otago Boys' backs and tighthead prop Lachlan Landels was the best of the forwards.

Centre Anthony Wetere-Sweet scored two tries when Waitaki Boys' beat John McGlashan 33-5 to reach the final of the middle division.

Wing Ryan Mitchell scored two tries in the last five minutes to give Kavanagh College a 29-27 win over Dunstan.
