Rugby: SOHS bag first win over Dunstan

Centre Matt Whaanga scored two tries for South Otago High School in its 30-5 win over Dunstan HS at Alexandra today.

It was the first time that South Otago has beaten Dunstan in the Highlanders First XV competition.

South Otago led 18-0 at halftime and went on to score five tries.

Whaanga and fellow midfield back Jordie Bungard cut the capers every time they had the ball and caused a few problems for the Dunstan defence. Joel White had a strong game at No 8.

Wing Josh Buchan scored two of Otago Boys' High School's 10 tries when John McGlashan was outclassed 66-3 in Dunedin.

A last minute penalty goal by fullback Caleb Young gave Menzies College a 16-15 win over St Kevin's.

Centre Loni Fisiihoi scored three tries when Waitaki Boys' beat James Hargest 36-15.

In other games Gore beat St Peters College 22-13, Southland Boys' beat Mount Aspiring 38-5 and Kings beat Central Southland College 67-0.
