A woman allegedly had a screwdriver held to her head during an armed robbery at a Christchurch bar on Thursday morning.
It was the second robbery to be reported to police within 45 minutes.
The Craic Irish Bar owner Marty Fuller said the staff member wasn’t injured but is “very shaken” by the incident on Riccarton Rd.
Mr Fuller said the woman was out back when she heard a noise about 10.30am and walked out to find a man behind the bar.
He said the man forced her to hand over cash while holding a screwdriver to her head.
“She is very shaken. It would be scary for anyone,” he said.
Police said they are trying to identify a man in relation to the robbery.
He is described as being of skinny build, between 40 and 50 years-old, with some facial scarring. He was wearing a light grey coloured sweatshirt with horizontal two-toned stripes across the chest and arms, with sunglasses and a hat.
It is the second time The Craic has been hit.
In 2013, two staff members were held at gunpoint and forced to open the safe and pokie machines.
About 45 minutes after the Riccarton Rd incident, police were alerted to a robbery at an op-shop on Ferry Rd, in Woolston.
A police spokeswoman said the person was armed with a weapon but was unable to confirm what the weapon was and what was stolen.
