Members of a Christchurch suburb have expressed disappointment after a food hub at their local high school was broken into and trashed on Monday.

Various food items had been collected and stored at the Hillmorton High School food hub on Upland Rd. The items were intended for people in need.

Photos of the damage posted on the Hoon Hay Neighbourhood Facebook group page show how various packets of food have been opened and then scattered across the ground.

Members of the group commented on the post, expressing their disappointment and saying they want the food hub to be moved to stop this from happening again.

"Oh that's terrible," said one person.

"Once school goes back it would be best off outside Spreydon School as less teens around there and more parents coming and going," said another.

"Pretty simple, don't put it in there. If you want to donate food get them [people] to come collect it," said someone else.
