Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the golden ticket musical to delight audiences in Christchruch from April 23 to May 9.
Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved story, Showbiz Christchurch's spectacular stage adaptation will feature songs from the classic 1971 film - including Pure Imagination, The Candy Man, and I’ve Got a Golden Ticket - plus dazzling new music from the Grammy, Tony and Olivier award-winning team behind Hairspray.
Put on by the Christchurch producers of Mamma Mia!, Kinky Boots, and Matilda The Musical, this extraordinary show promises to provide magic, laughter and a world of surprises for the whole family.
Based on the much-loved story by author Roald Dahl, the musical has wowed audiences on Broadway and the West End.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will also be part of the city-wide celebration of sport, culture and entertainment over Anzac weekend.
The show will open on the same weekend (April 24-26) as the first major event - the Super Rugby Pacific Super Round - is held at Christchurch's new One New Zealand Stadium.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory runs from April 23 to May 9, 2026, at the Isaac Theatre Royal.
It follows Charlie Bucket, who wins a once-in-a-lifetime tour of Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory. He and four other children embark on a journey full of wonder, mischief and pure imagination.
