‘Oarsome’ show to give insight into festivals

With two city festivals about to get under way, Oar FM is delving into the event programmes.

July sees a busy line-up of family-friendly Puaka Matariki Festival and New Zealand International Science Festival Nanofest events, many of which are free or low cost.

Throughout the month, Oar’s weekday Oarsome Morning Show will feature a series of interviews with festival organisers and event hosts, to provide insight into what’s on offer.

Last week, morning show host Jeff Harford spoke with DCC event producer Rewa Pene for a Matariki overview, focusing on the Matariki mā Puaka drone show to be held at Logan Park on July 10.

Auckland-based artist Sione Faletau then discussed his upcoming Nanofest appearance, where he will be developing Ongo mei he fonua: Sounds from the Soil, turning environmental data into art using knowledge and symbols from his Tongan heritage.

Also starting this month, Putiputi Pod with Moewai Marsh, a personal journey commencing in the season of Matariki and following the host and her guests as they experience the cycle of the four seasons.

The Oarsome Morning Show is broadcast weekdays from 7am to 9am on 105.4FM and 1575AM.
