Community advocacy role at top of agenda
Advocating for Dunedin’s southern coastal communities remains at the top of the agenda for Saddle Hill Community Board.
Board chairman Scott Weatherall said alongside its core community advocacy role, the board would continue its advocacy at the resource consent hearing for the proposed landfill at Smooth Hill.
The board would also continue with fundraising and leadership in the development of a half-sized basketball court in Delta Dr, Waldronville.
Looking back on 2021, Mr Weatherall said he was proud of the work done by the board on behalf of its communities.
"To be a positive and cohesive team working for the betterment of the community, our board [put aside] their personal agendas," he said.
The board had also done good work in advocating for the resource consent hearing on the proposed landfill at Smooth Hill to be "an open and transparent process".
The resurfacing of the skate park at Fairplay St had also been a positive.
"We were really pleased to see the work carried out on stabilising the transportation network along Taieri Mouth Rd, [to protect it] from coastal erosion," Mr Weatherall said.
The board had also achieved positive outcomes with the ongoing advocacy of maintaining the essential needs of the community, including timely repairs of potholes, roadside vegetation and safety improvements, he said.
