Autumn is here and with it come lower water temperatures. I can tell, as I wade wet.
Amazingly, the heavy rain on the West Coast this week had very little effect on this side of the Alps. The Mataura and the Oreti both rose but within a couple of days they should be right again....
The golden weather continues for us anglers and the only down side is that we will take even more badly to less pleasant conditions when they inevitably arrive.

The changeable weather has messed up the end-of-season fishing. There is snow melt in the rivers rising in the mountains and low-country rivers are above normal.
Wet days lately have kept some rivers high and dirty but, as the weekend approaches, it looks as though there will be fishable water.
No sooner have rivers dropped back to a good fishing level than they are rising again, and it will be quite a few days until they drop.
