Former Alliance Group chairman Murray Taggart has been dumped from the board of FMG. Mr Taggart, a North Canterbury farmer who has been on the board since 2017, retired by rotation and stood for re-election in this year’s election, along with Nicola Shadbolt. Ms Shadbolt topped the election with 1496 votes, followed by newcomer Ross Bowmar with 1376. Mr Taggart received 756 votes. Mr Bowmar farms Redcliffs Station, in the Rakaia Gorge, which carries 11,000 stock units of sheep and beef. He is on the board of Mid Canterbury-based lines company EA Networks and the new Alliance Investment Co-operative, which resulted from the Dawn Meats deal to take a majority stake in the Alliance Group. Mr Taggart retired from the board of Alliance Group in 2024 after a decade as chairman.
