Telecom moves Ratcliffe to lead ultra fast broadband bid

Telecom New Zealand has seconded its Chorus chief executive Mark Ratcliffe to lead its bid to participate in ultra fast broadband.

Telecom said Mr Ratcliffe is temporarily standing down as Chorus chief executive to work full-time leading a team focused on ensuring Telecom's participation in the ultra fast broadband process.

The appointment demonstrated the seriousness with which Telecom is supporting the Government's ultra fast broadband vision.

Chorus chief financial officer Brian Hall will now take up the chief executive role at Chorus, in an acting capacity.

"A number of our people from across the Telecom group have been seconded in recent months to work through all aspects of the ultra fast broadband project, and the size and scope of this team requires the very senior leadership and acumen that Mark Ratcliffe can bring to it," said Telecom chief executive Paul Reynolds.

Chorus is pressing ahead with its nationwide fibre-to-the-node programme.
