Steadfast Joinery: Crafting the heart of modern homes

Joinery is more than functional cabinetry – it can be the quiet backbone that shapes how a space works, feels, and flows.

For Steadfast Joinery, that belief has guided a decade-long journey from humble beginnings to becoming a trusted name across Otago and Central Otago.

Steadfast Joinery has built its reputation project-by-project since being founded in Dunedin in 2017.

In 2023, the company merged with another long-standing Dunedin joinery business, bringing together many years of combined experience. The result is a business with deep local roots, proven systems, and a focus on quality.

Today, the company employs a team of 20 across sales, detailing, management, and the workshop floor. Just as important as technical skill is the culture. They select the right people to fit with the business, and are lucky to have a highly qualified and experienced

team who genuinely enjoy working together.

Reflected in the company’s core values, that philosophy emphasises purpose, accuracy, thoughtfulness, and a considered approach to every project.

The bulk of Steadfast’s work is residential new-build joinery, delivering kitchens, pantries, laundries, wardrobes, and custom storage solutions for private clients and builders throughout Otago and Central Otago.

Steadfast’s strong commercial portfolio includes supplying joinery to schools, offices, gyms, and healthcare facilities, often working alongside the region’s larger commercial construction firms.

Recent projects include the new Les Mills gym at the Meridian, the South Dunedin Library, multiple school refurbishments, and high-profile Central Otago developments such as the Bathhouse Spa and The Mill High Performance Sports Centre in Frankton.

Longstanding partnerships, including work with Trident Homes, have helped cement Steadfast’s reputation for reliability and consistency.

Joinery typically represents a relatively small portion of a new-build budget – around five percent – yet has a big impact on how a home functions day to day.

Steadfast’s advice to clients is simple: engage early. Minor layout changes made before plans are finalised can dramatically improve usability without adding cost.

Continuing to invest in its people, its culture, and new machinery, Steadfast is working closely with its clients to deliver thoughtful, well-crafted spaces where life happens.
