Around the world in 80 tales - China

Tai Chi is a traditional type of Chinese martial art. It is a philosophical concept, the essence of which is balance. It is a combination of exercise, awareness, Qi and strength.

Through slow movement and deep breathing, it not only improves strength and enhances balance, it improves flexibility, fitness, immunity and relaxation of mind and body. It also cultivates inner balance and self-healing for chronic illness. Tai Chi is suitable for people of any age.

Dunedin Tai Chi brings a community of different people together to experience, learn and get the unique benefits from Tai Chi. We have public classes every weekend outside the front of the Dunedin Chinese Garden. The 13 forms we are performing is a first a generation Tai Chi Form, an internal martial art, created and performed around 300 years ago. It is composed of 13 sets of actions with a strong sense of attack and defence.
