Faafoi carved the significant work from a protected red beech/tāwhai raunui that once stood on the Olveston property.
The tree was felled during essential site works, including the rebuilding of a retaining wall and the installation of drainage between Olveston and a neighbouring property.
After Faafoi carved the tree into a remarkable sculpture, titled Kāwhai — New Beginnings, it was returned to the place where it originally stood in the grounds of the historic home. — Allied Media
