Crowds search out the books of their choice at the Barking Mad Book Sale in the car park of Dunedin Public Library in Moray Pl yesterday including Clare (left) and Janet Atkinson. The sale, which started at 4pm yesterday and ends tomorrow at 4pm, gives the library a chance to make some space on its shelves and readers the chance of bargain novels, biographies, specialty books, magazines, children's books, CDs or DVDs.
Ms Atkinson, of Timaru, was visiting Dunedin when her daughter, a university student, suggested they go to the sale.
"I just can't help myself. I love books - I'll probably keep them all."
