A ‘‘Bit of activity'' in North Dunedin over the weekend has prompted police to warn people to secure homes and property.
Two burglaries and a theft from a car, between 1am on Saturday and 6am yesterday, have police concerned.
Senior Sergeant Liz Waru, of Dunedin, said it was possible the three incidents were linked.
‘‘People do need to be more mindful of their security,'' Snr Sgt Waru said.
A car was broken into ‘‘outside cricket nets'' in Butts Rd, North Dunedin, between 11pm on Saturday and 1.30pm on Sunday.
Property worth $600, including an iPod, headphones and running shoes, was taken.
Thieves entered a Forth St property between 1am and 4am on Sunday after the front door was left unlocked.
A wallet, an external hard drive and a vehicle key were taken from a bedroom, Snr Sgt Waru said.
The victim's car was not stolen.
About $2000 of property was stolen from an Agnew St address between midnight and 6am yesterday.
‘‘[The thief] has entered while the victim and two flatmates are asleep,'' Snr Sgt Waru said.
A Playstation 4, two controllers, 10 games and an Acer laptop were taken.
