Chancellor reappointed

University of Otago chancellor John Ward has been reappointed to the head governance role on the university council for 2012.

He will be joined at the top table next year by Stuart McLauchlan, who has been reappointed to the pro-chancellor position.

Mr Ward has been the chancellor of Otago since the start of 2009. He served a two-year term as pro-chancellor from 2007, after he was first appointed to the university council by the minister of education in 2003. A commerce graduate (accounting) from Otago, the Invercargill-based Mr Ward is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Directors.

Mr McLauchlan was elected pro-chancellor when Mr Ward moved into the chancellor role.
