Alleged Dunedin burglars caught red-handed

Police caught three men in a North Dunedin property with a recycling bin full of frozen food and a television early this morning.

The three men, two aged 26 and one 24, were caught trying to take items from a north George St address at 3.30am this morning.

Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said the trio were caught with a television, an assortment of frozen food and recycling bin to carry it all in.

Witnesses told police they heard the men encouraging each other to walk into the flat and take whatever they could, Snr Sgt Dinnissen said.

All three will appear in the Dunedin District Court today, he said.
