A new skateboard ramp and basketball court have opened at Ralph Ham playground in Macandrew Bay.
The half-pipe ramp features a Skatelite surface and, at 4.8m wide and 8.4m long, is bigger than the old ramp at the park.
The new ramp is ideal for beginners and skateboarders of all ages.
The half-size court is 10m wide and 14m long and, although marked up for basketball, can be used for other ball games.
Outdoor half-courts are common and popular for practise, informal games, and play.
The ramp and court cost $100,000 and are part of the implementation of Dunedin City Council’s Play Space Plan.
They were installed after people providing feedback in DCC’s Play Space Plan consultation said they wanted more opportunities to play basketball and skateboard in Dunedin parks.
