Taieri College year eight pupil Dylan Lloyd (12) gets his hands on the Rugby World Cup at the school on Thursday.
Dylan, a keen rugby watcher, who has cerebral palsy, was able to lift the trophy although he had to wear gloves. Only those players who won the trophy through their play on the paddock can touch the trophy.
College First XV members Ethan George and Bailey Reid (both 16) were also pictured with the cup. Won last year by the All Blacks, it went for a tour round Kavanagh College, King's High School, Taieri College and South Otago High School.
The tour was part of a nationwide promotion by New Zealand Rugby to take the Cup to high schools to motivate teenagers to play the game.
Players at Taieri College met Otago provincial players on Thursday and were encouraged to get fit for the sport.
Rugby at the college begins next month.
