Pool needs 'slight' top-up

The Strath Taieri Community Board submission on the Dunedin City Council's 2014-15 draft annual plan calls for maintenance levels in the district to remain the same and for a top-up in funding for the Middlemarch Pool, board chairman Barry Williams said.

The Middlemarch pool needed a ''slight increase'' in funding to cover inflation and the board was concerned about the lack of maintenance on rural roads, Mr Williams said.

Although the board realised there was a lack of funding available for capital work on rural roads, the maintenance work, such as weed spraying, needed to be completed, so funding should not ''drop back any'', Mr Williams said.
