Getting set up for some festival fun at Whare Flat yesterday were (front) Raff Hyland (5), (middle, from left) Scarlett Keogh (5), Jen Hyland (7), and Nic Hyland, and (back) Ruby Keogh (3) and Aimee Keogh.

The two families were among dozens setting up once the gates opened yesterday afternoon for the annual Whare Flat Folk Festival, near Dunedin.

Some eager campers who arrived early were enjoying the sunshine as they strummed away on instruments before the official programme began last night.

The festival, which runs until January 3, features performances by artists such as Nadia Reid, Reb Fountain and Albi and the Wolves.
