Dunedin police are hunting for a "suspicious man" seen entering properties in a notorious student party street early this morning.
The man - who was wearing overalls and an orange construction workers vest - was spotted by Campus Watch staff in Hyde St about 2am today, Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield said.
"A suspicious male was seen entering properties by Campus Watch," Snr Sgt Butterfield said.
"As they approached him, he ran off."
The man was believed to have fled the area in a blue Toyota Surf or similar vehicle.
"It's obviously a concern for us," he said.
"We are interested in hearing from anyone who was in the area at the time or may know who he is because we really want to speak to him."
