'Tab' disappears in street theft

Lin Ong wants her life back.

A Samsung Galaxy P1000 Tab belonging to the Dunedin-based woman, who recently returned from Singapore, was stolen during a visit to Oamaru on Thursday.

The trained psychologist and counsellor said she put the book-sized device on top of a parking meter, but when she returned to her car after putting a parking ticket in the car's window, it was gone.

"Anything I have been doing has gone into it [the Tab], and I have no back-up."

She had reported the theft to Oamaru police, and was now appealing for the return of the device, or at least its micro SD card, anonymously, to the station.

"I want it back."

Believed to be the only one of its kind in the South Island, the device would not function without its adaptor, she said.
