Firecrackers were thrown towards a group of people in the Octagon late last night.
Octagon occupier Joey Robson-Carter said he was with a group speaking to a couple of tourists when two crackers were hurled from a passing car about 10.30pm.
No-one was hurt in the incident.
Earlier, Octagon occupiers received a second unwelcome visitor in as many nights, resulting in police being called to take a "grossly intoxicated" 48-year-old Dunedin man into custody.
Senior Sergeant Kelvin Lloyd said the man, who was "known to police", was removed about 8pm.
A 49-year-old man faces a charge of common assault after being arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly headbutting a person in the Octagon.
