Steady campaigning by former Dunedin student, celebrity chef Nadia Lim has resulted in food delivery service My Food Bag coming to the city.
From the end of the month, bags of ingredients and recipes will be arriving on subscribers doorsteps every Sunday.
Ms Lim, who is a co-shareholder in My Food Bag and helps develop and test the recipes, was in Dunedin yesterday to promote the new service.
''I've wanted it to come to Dunedin for ages.
''Especially me as an ex-scarfie, I love Dunedin so I've campaigned at each board meeting,'' she said.
Before the company committed to it, there had to be enough interest and Dunedin cooks had shown that, she said.
''It's exciting. As well as regular customers, I can see the potential is great for students, too.
''My flat would have definitely done it.
''It also solves the problem of who does the shopping.''
The business, which started in Auckland in 2013, has more than 20,000 customers across New Zealand and Australia.
The produce provided to Dunedin homes would mainly come from Canterbury but the company's goal was to provide locally grown and made produce.
