Woman grabbed in Opoho: police

Police are investigating after a woman was grabbed by a man outside an Opoho property in Dunedin. 

In a statement today, police said the attack happened about 10.20pm on Monday and the woman was able to get away.

"It appears a male has approached a female on the street outside an address and has grabbed her by the arm. The female has been able to break free and leave the scene,'' a spokeswoman said.

Police wanted reassure the community they treated an attack on anyone extremely seriously.

Members of the public who may have seen the incident, or anything suspicious in the area, should contact the Dunedin Central Police station immediately on 03 471-4800.

Alternatively, information could be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
