Comedian Ewen Gilmour's wife Cathy, 36, has died after a long battle with cancer.
Mrs Gilmour died on Saturday surrounded by her family, who said in her death notice she had fought a "long, brave battle".
She was described as "the beloved wife, best friend and travelling companion of Ewen Gilmour".
Celebrity Speakers, who list Gilmour as the Kiwi comedian known as "The Westie" and New Zealand's most unusual cultural ambassador, said Mrs Gilmour was his pillar.
Mrs Gilmour, a drama teacher, had a brain tumour removed in 2006 and her husband resigned from Waitakere City Council in 2007 to care for her.
Her funeral will be held at Tuakau, south of Auckland, on Thursday.
