Department of Conservation staff have been told further job losses are possible as it enters another round of restructuring.
In March, staff are to receive a restructuring document outlining the detail of the changes, Doc spokesman Rory Newsam said yesterday.
Just before Christmas, staff were told the department did not yet know the extent of any job losses.
''We will be looking at all areas of our delivery operations to see what efficiencies we can find before we consider staff or location changes - but we can't rule out job losses.
''The development of the new business model for conservation delivery may also result in changes to roles and the structure of operations teams.''
Doc plans to partner more with business, private landowners, the community, iwi and local government.
''If we are to work through partnerships, we need to reorganise our business around that new ambition and new way of working. The state of our natural environment makes that urgent.''
A recruitment freeze on operations staff introduced last month would continue until the restructuring concluded in July. Since 2011, about 120 Doc jobs have been lost.
