A wide area of Wellington has been cordoned off, including streets next to Parliament, following a bomb scare.
Part of Victoria University's Pipitea Campus has been evacuated, and lectures cancelled.
Bus services will faces delays, due to the city's main interchange being inside the cordon.
Pedestrians and motorists are being warned the police cordon has now been extended to include cordon points on Lambton Quay and Whitmore Street, Molesworth Street and Hill Street, and Bunny Street and Waterloo Quay.
Featherston Street and Whitmore Street is also affected, as is Mulgrave Street and Featherston Street.

It's unknown if the key CBD streets will still be cordoned off at rush hour.
Metlink said the bus interchange was closed and services were being diverted.
The company warned there would be delays and changes to the bus timetables.
The Railway Station and trains are unaffected.
Pedestrians can still walk through Parliament Grounds, but are being reminded to follow the instructions of police at cordon points.
The public are being advised to stay away from the area.
A Victoria University spokesperson said staff and students who were in Rutherford House had all been evacuated, and were now a safe distance from the building.
She said they didn't have any information on what type of threat had been made, as they'd only just become aware of the bomb scare themselves.
Rutherford House is part of the university's Pipitea campus, near Parliament and the Wellington Railway Station.
The campus is home to the School of Management and the Schools of Government, Law, Economics and Finance, Information Management, Marketing and International Business and Accounting and Commercial Law.
All Victoria Business School lectures and tutorials have been cancelled for the rest of the day, even those being held in different buildings.
In the rush to evacuated, some students left their belongings in Rutherford House. They're being advised to keep an eye on the Victoria University Facebook page, to find out when they can get their belongings back.
Students are being offered support, with services available in the student common room on the ground floor of the Old Government Buildings.
