Father charged over baby's head injuries

Police have charged the father of a four-month-old baby boy who suffered critical head injuries in August.

The baby was taken to Auckland's Starship Hospital after an ambulance was called to his home in Papakura in South Auckland on August 2.

Police at the time said the baby's head injuries were non-accidental.

Police said today the 19-year-old father has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He would appear in Papakura District Court today.
