Investigation into deaths of mum, two kids continues

Police were today continuing to talk to family and friends as they try to piece together the last movements of a Hawke's Bay woman and her two young children found dead yesterday.

A visiting family member found Melissa Dorward, 31, and her daughters Keira Watson, four, and Ellah Watson, two, dead in their home in Rockwood Place, Haumoana, 10km northeast of Hastings yesterday morning.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and they were not looking for anyone else.

The bodies had been removed from the house, Detective Senior Sergeant Dave De Lange said today.

It appeared they had died in the house but police would not be able to confirm their cause of death until post mortems were carried out today.

No weapons were found at the property and none of the bodies had any obvious injuries.

Mr De Lange said the investigation would continue "for some days".

"We will continue today to talk to friends and other family members and we will also be speaking to neighbours in the area.

"We are trying to build up a picture of the circumstances of the deaths and how they might have died."
