John Clark stole a large amount of jewellery in the 2007 burglary on Mr Key's Remuera mansion but computers and sensitive files were untouched.
Clark, 37, was jailed for five years and three months when he appeared in Auckland District Court yesterday on 20 burglary and seven of receiving charges, The New Zealand Herald reported.
A P user with 140 previous convictions, mostly for dishonesty and burglary, He was on bail or under supervision when he committed the offences.
The burglary on Mr Key's home occurred when he was leader of the opposition and on holiday in Hawaii.
The court was told Clark, who burgled to feed his drug habit, targeted affluent properties and items stolen from 15 properties were worth about $100,000.
