Man suspected of indecent assaults around Hagley Park arrested

A man has been arrested in connection with a number of indecent assaults against women around Hagley Park and Wigram. 

Police had been seeking the public’s assistance to identify the offender, releasing photos of a person they believed could help with their investigation. 

Today, Detective Constable Louise Piper said police had arrested a 30-year-old man over the incidents, which had allegedly spanned several months.  

He will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Wednesday on four charges of indecent assault against females over 16, Piper said. 

"Police thank everyone that helped following the appeal," she said.
